ERMC Plant Operations Engineer Brian Howard named 2023 non-clinical employee of the year

Brian Howard, Plant Operations Engineer at Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC), is this year’s recipient of the hospital’s non-clinical Meinke Sherman Care, Serve, Inspire Award.

Howard’s selection as the 2023 ERMC Non-Clinical Employee of the Year was based upon a nomination submitted by his co-worker, who recognized his dedication, safety, and selfless attitude.

The nomination read, in part, “His daily efforts, tasks, and personal interactions are admiral. He performs every task with the utmost care, considering safety, accuracy, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. He exudes care, we are his extended family, and he desires the best for ERMC!”

Howard began working at ERMC back in September of 2009. He shared that his favorite part of the job is that he is able to work with different departments and the variety of jobs that he has within his position.

Howard said he was surprised that he ended up winning because all nominees were well deserving of the award.

“This award means a lot to me,” said Howard. “The staff here really recognizes the kind of work the Maintenance department does at ERMC to keep the buildings safe and up-to-date.”

The Meinke Sherman Care, Serve, Inspire Award was established to honor ERMC’s founding physicians, Dr. Albert Meinke and Dr. Eber Sherman. This award recognizes three employees each year for their outstanding service: a leader, a clinical staff member, and a non-clinical staff member.
