Marissa Amboy, Emergency Department/Respiratory Manager at Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC), has been named the 2024 recipient of the hospital’s prestigious Meinke Sherman Care, Serve, Inspire Award.
Amboy’s selection as the 2024 ERMC Leader of the Year was based on a nomination submitted by two of her co-workers. The nomination highlighted her caring nature, willingness to listen, and ability to maintain a positive attitude —even in challenging situations.
The nomination read, in part: “Marissa makes it a point to listen to both employees and patient concerns, then acts promptly to address them. She has significantly improved the morale and standard of care in the Emergency Department here at ERMC.”
Amboy, who has been with ERMC for about a year and a half, has made a positive impact since her first day. She was instrumental in helping the Emergency Department earn the prestigious 2024 Governor’s Award of Excellence.
When asked about her role, Amboy shared that her favorite part of the job is working with such an amazing team. “Everyone truly collaborates to prioritize the best interests of our patients,” she said. “We provide compassionate care where patients are seen as individuals, not just numbers. Witnessing the way people care for both our patients and each other really fills my cup. I’ve said it before—our hospital feels like the hallmark movie of hospitals.”
Both nominators also praised Amboy for her constant encouragement, always pushing others to be their best, and offering positive feedback when needed.
“I felt honored to be recognized, especially knowing how many incredible people I work alongside every day,” said Amboy. “It’s a reflection of the amazing teamwork and support I’m fortunate to experience at ERMC. This award isn’t just mine—it belongs to all of us who work together to make a difference for our patients and each other.”
The Meinke Sherman Care, Serve, Inspire Award was established to honor ERMC’s founding physicians, Dr. Albert Meinke and Dr. Eber Sherman. The award recognizes three employees each year for their outstanding service: a leader, a clinical staff member, and a non-clinical staff member.
