Holiday Season Reminder: Respiratory Viruses Are on the Rise

Stay Healthy this Holiday Season!

As we gather with loved ones this holiday season, respiratory viruses—including COVID-19—are seeing an uptick in our community. The good news? There are simple, effective steps we can take to help protect ourselves and others.

Here are some Healthy Holiday Tips based on current guidance:

  • Get Immunized: Vaccines help reduce your risk of severe illness. If you’re eligible, consider getting updated COVID-19, flu, or RSV vaccines.
  • Wear a Mask (when needed): Masking can be especially helpful in crowded indoor settings or when virus levels are high.
  • Clean Hands & Cover Coughs: Wash hands often and cover coughs/sneezes—it’s simple but powerful.
  • Stay Home When You’re Sick: If you’re not feeling well, stay home until: Your fever is gone without medication AND Your symptoms are improving.
  • Take Steps for Cleaner Air: Improve ventilation, use air purifiers when possible, and bring in fresh air.
  • Get Tested: Testing helps you know if you’re dealing with COVID-19 and can guide next steps.
  • Seek Treatment (if eligible): If you test positive and are at higher risk, talk to a healthcare provider about antiviral treatments.
