Stephanie Foreman, a registered nurse (RN) in the Outpatient Infusion Department at Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC), has been honored with the 2026 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
Stephanie has worked in healthcare since 2015 and has been part of the ERMC team since 2016. She was nominated for this prestigious award by the wife of a patient she cared for during his ongoing blood transfusion treatments over a two-month period.
In the nomination, the patient’s wife shared, “Almost on a weekly basis over a 2-month period, Stephanie admitted my husband for blood transfusions in the area dedicated to infusion services at ERMC. She was diligent in tending to his every need during the two to three hours required to complete a transfusion.”
The nomination highlighted Stephanie’s compassion and attentiveness during an incredibly difficult season for the patient and his family. “She brought him fluids, helped him change positions, adjusted pillows to keep him as comfortable as possible, and aided him with bathroom issues,” the nominator wrote. “It was an extremely difficult time for my husband and me since we were grappling with the knowledge that his condition was terminal.”

The patient’s wife also shared how Stephanie offered emotional support and guidance throughout the patient’s care. “Completely sensitive to this, Stephanie kept us abreast of lab results while offering support with difficult decisions we were facing. I remember her giving me a hug on one occasion when I desperately needed a hug,” she wrote. “My husband succumbed to a type of blood cancer early in July, and I will never forget her care and kindness to him in his final months. I believe Stephanie personifies what it means to be a nurse, one who is dedicated to her profession and compassionate. Since I feel she is well deserving of special recognition, it is my pleasure to nominate her for the DAISY Award.”
When asked what she loves most about her work, Stephanie shared that the relationships she builds with coworkers, patients, and families are what make her job so meaningful. “My coworkers truly feel like family. We always have each other’s backs, everyone comes to work with a smile, and no one hesitates to jump in and help when needed,” she said. “I love getting to know my patients and their families on a personal level. Being able to support them during vulnerable moments and make a positive difference in their lives gives me a strong sense of purpose. Knowing that I can provide comfort and compassion when someone needs it most is what makes my job so meaningful.”
The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the DAISY Foundation to honor extraordinary nurses who go above and beyond to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families. ERMC proudly joins healthcare facilities around the world in participating in this recognition program, celebrating nurses for their skill, compassion, and dedication.
