ERMC administers first COVID vaccine dose

Linda Reid receives COVID-19 vaccine

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020 Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC) administered their first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The shot was given to Linda Reid, a surgical nurse who has worked at the community hospital for more than 14 years. Linda received the shot from Andie Perry, a Nurse Practitioner in ERMC’s Family Practice and Redicare. All those present took a moment to celebrate the long-awaited occasion with applause and cheers.

Eaton Rapids Medical Center received its first 200 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and staff are now beginning to rollout the shots in phases. The first 200 doses will not quite cover the hospital’s entire staff of 300, but priority will be given to those who have the greatest contact with patients, and those employees who are considered high risk.

Eaton Rapids Medical Center is among many hospitals across Michigan beginning to vaccinate their staff this week. According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services healthcare workers are in the Phase 1A group of vaccine distribution, along with residents of long-term care facilities who should begin receiving vaccines within the next two weeks.
