ERMC employees raise funds for breast cancer research

Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC) employees participated in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at the Michigan Capitol on Saturday, October 27. The team, named the Eaton Rapids Ma'am Crusaders, raised $1,700 for breast cancer research. The event itself brought in more than $245,000 from the Greater Lansing area.

"I organized a team this year because I felt like I needed to do more to raise awareness about breast cancer and work toward a cure," said Sue Bradford, radiology manager at Eaton Rapids Medical Center. Sue also stated that there is renewed energy in the ERMC radiology department due to the upgrade in the digital imaging equipment used for mammograms.

Eaton Rapids Medical Center performs approximately 1,400 mammograms each year, and of those, detects 10 to 20 new cases of breast cancer. These rates are in line with the national average. For more information on the Making Strides Walk, visit
