ERMC nurse recognized with DAISY Award

LuAnn Renney, Registered Nurse (RN) at Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC), received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at a ceremony held on May 6, 2019. The ceremony took place at the hospital during National Nurses Week.

Renney, who has worked in the Medical Surgical department at ERMC since 2016, was nominated for the award by both a patient and a co-worker, one nomination stated, "LuAnn is the kind of nurse that all nurses should want to be. I have personally witnessed on many occasions the kindness and compassion she delivers with her nursing care. She takes the time to really listen to her patients and advocates for what is right and necessary for them. Her vast work experience, skills, and knowledge give her a firm foundation, and as a co-worker she is hard-working and never afraid to take on even the most difficult of challenges. I am proud to work with LuAnn and feel she is very deserving of the DAISY Award."

In response to the award presented to her on Monday, Renney thanked her co-workers and the hospital saying "I am honored to have received this award and to work with such an excellent team at ERMC. Thank you to all at Eaton Rapids Medical Center!"

In addition to the award, Renney also received a bouquet of daisies, a Daisy Award pin and a handmade sculpture entitled "A Healer's Touch." This award was created by the DAISY Foundation to honor extraordinary nurses who go above and beyond to make a difference in patients' and families' experiences in healthcare. ERMC joins facilities all over the world in participating in this recognition program to celebrate nurses and the skilled, compassionate, dedicated care they deliver every day.
