ERMC participates in 28th annual Michigan Harvest Gathering

Michigan Harvest Gathering (MHG) is a one-of-a-kind emergency food program benefiting hungry Michigan families through the Food Bank Council of Michigan’s member food banks and more than 3,000 community agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. Through donations to this food and fundraising campaign, Michigan’s private businesses, foundations and nonprofit agencies have provided millions of emergency meals. Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC) has coordinated the Harvest Gathering food drive for the Eaton Rapids area for several years and will hold the local 2018 drive from October 30 to November 13.

Non-perishable food and personal hygiene items collected will be donated to Heart & Hands and St. Vincent de Paul, local food banks in Eaton Rapids. Collection barrels will be located at Eaton Rapids Medical Center, Eaton Rapids Middle School, Greyhound Intermediate School, Eaton Federal Savings Bank, Island City Academy, Island City Assisted Living, Ross & Associates Realtors, Jean Bradford Kline Senior Center, Laura DeLong Realty, Independent Bank and Mark's Place.

Desired items include canned meals, boxed dinners, dry pasta, cereal and infant formula. Non-food items such as soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, disposable diapers and feminine hygiene products are appreciated as well. According to www.feedmichigan.org, 16 percent of households are struggling to put food on the table.
