Eaton Rapids Medical Center collaborating with McLaren Greater Lansing to expand cardiology offerings

Eaton Rapids Medical Center is working with McLaren Greater Lansing cardiologists to expand cardiovascular services and create a comprehensive heart station at the hospital, officials announced today.

“The McLaren Cardiovascular Group has provided excellent care at ERMC for several years, and we are happy they are increasing their presence and available services in our Specialty Clinics,” said Timothy J. Johnson, President & CEO, Eaton Rapids Medical Center.

In addition to cardiology consultations, the expanded Heart Station will include a variety of tests and procedures at Eaton Rapids Medical Center, including electrocardiograms (ECGs), echocardiography, exercise and chemical nuclear stress testing, multigated acquisition (MUGA) scans, Holter and event monitor placement and evaluation, pacemaker and defibrillator interrogation, and elective cardioversions. These tests and procedures complement the full offering of vascular services already provided at Eaton Rapids Medical Center.

“Access to health care, especially cardiovascular services, is a critical component to creating a healthy community,” said Kirk Ray, President & CEO, McLaren Greater Lansing. “McLaren is proud to partner with Eaton Rapids Medical Center to provide exceptional cardiovascular care right in the Eaton Rapids community.”

McLaren cardiologists will also expand their presence at Eaton Rapids Medical Center, eventually offering 5-day-a-week onsite coverage of the hospital’s heart station and 24/7 remote consulting and onsite coverage to care for patients who present to the emergency department or main hospital.

Mohan Madala, MD, a cardiologist with McLaren Cardiovascular Group, has served the Eaton Rapids community for the past several years. According to Dr. Madala, patients have appreciated not having to travel for many services.

“The entire community has embraced our physicians and physician assistants being a part of Eaton Rapids Medical Center for a long time,” said Ibrahim Shah, MD, FACC, a cardiologist with McLaren Cardiovascular Group. “It is an honor to be able to expand services to care for even more of the Eaton Rapids community close to home.”
