Eaton Rapids High School graduate Melissa Bankus was presented with the second-annual Eaton Rapids Medical Center Foundation Scholarship Award during the Senior Honors Convocation on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. In addition to receiving the award, she was invited to tour the Medical Center and observe surgeries. Bankus was involved in many extracurricular and community service activities in high school, including National Honor Society, Interact, Student Council and Marching Band. She also spends much of her time volunteering at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility. She plans to attend Lansing Community College in the fall.

The ERMC Foundation began offering the $1,000 scholarship last year to an Eaton Rapids High School senior who plans to pursue a registered nursing degree. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide local students with assistance in entering the healthcare field.
