Phlebotomist
Hours: Casual- hours vary including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
Responsibilities:
  • Assumes responsibility for obtaining specimens from a variety of patients by venipuncture, toe, heel or finger sticks or swab using an assortment of collection tubes or containers.
  • Assumes responsibility for specimen collections considering the age specific and physical needs of the patient.
  • Supports and follows hospital behavior standards and occupational health/ safety rules.
Qualifications:
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of formal training with accredited phlebotomy program or on-the-job training experience. Certificate or eligible with a recognized board of registry for phlebotomy recommended.
  • Must have excellent phlebotomy skills; able to perform collection on variety of patient ages.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management/Medical Record Administration or credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator preferred. Credentialed as a Registered Health Information Technician required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years acute care facility experience as Director/Manager of Health Information Management/Medical Service. Knowledge of Health Care Databases/Systems, medical classification systems, flow of clinical information, relationship of financial information to clinical data, medicolegal issues and security systems.
  • Makes recommendations for collection, analysis, interpretation and management of health information including: ICD-10 preparation, electronic health record implementation, training, reference material, interdepartmental quality improvement, transcription and utilization review guidelines, etc.
