New CEO Outlines Vision for ERMC

I'm excited to be your new CEO. I'm optimistic about our future. We are blessed to have a great hospital, a great staff, and great physicians here at ERMC. We are also fortunate to be located in a wonderful community.

In an effort to provide quality healthcare we need to strive to have first class facilities and technology. To that end we are currently working on a number of projects. These include remodeling the old emergency department into lab space and phlebotomy draw stations. We have submitted architectural drawings to the various regulatory agencies, and have received approval from the State Department of Health, but are still awaiting word from other state and local agencies. Bids have come in as expected and the plan is to have this project finished by the first of February, 2010. We also plan to cover the walls in the Specialty Clinics with vinyl protection. The walls in that area are continuously being marred and gouged by the chairs and stretchers and the vinyl will help keep them looking nice. We are also looking at some equipment purchases, including a new chemistry analyzer for the lab and a small ultrasound device for use in the emergency department.

In the past 9 years that I have served as the CFO our hospital has seen unprecedented growth and I look forward to that trend continuing. We have a tremendous opportunity for growth. Based upon the most recent market share data we have from the Michigan Hospital Association, only 40% of the people in Eaton Rapids use our hospital for the services that we provide. The fact is, the majority of the people in our service area continue to drive to Lansing and Jackson for their care. Patient satisfaction reports substantiate that we deliver exceptional care. We just need the rest of our service area to experience the convenience of patient-focused healthcare right in their backyard! When the need arises, we hope you all will give Eaton Rapids Medical Center a try. I am confident you will be pleased with our experienced staff and modern facility.
